Card Making Monday : Holiday Mittens

It's never too early to start your Christmas cards. So when I came across these mitten stamps at Creations Galore, I knew what needed to be done! 

The mittens, from Stamps by Judith, were stamped on three different patterns from BasicGrey's 25th & Pine Collection. It has quickly become my favorite holiday collection this year. With such gorgeous patterned papers, paper piecing my projects trumps coloring! 

I stamped a holiday greeting by A Muse Studio onto a white banner and popped it up with foam risers. But not before stringing some yellow baker's twine around it. The ends of the twine were adhered with washi tape to the back of the mittens.

Good morning! This weekend I found the adorable sketch below on the Retro Sketches blog. As you can see, I'm too late to enter the challenge. But I just had to create a card using the sketch as inspiration! 

And here's the card I created: 

All of the papers are from We R Memory Keepers newest Chalkboard collection. The butterfly was stamped on both vellum and yellow cardstock and paper pieced together.

Use It Tuesday :: Birthdays

Hello there! Use It Tuesday's newest Design Team has posted their first challenge, and I'm so excited to announce I will be joining them for another term! 

This challenge is all about BIRTHDAYS! With America celebrating its independence recently, we wanted to encourage you to get out your birthday themed hoarded items to celebrate! 

 

Here's the fun card I created for the theme! The bubblegum machine stamp was so adorable, but I was never sure how to use it! Birthday's are sweet, so it worked well! Other hoarded items on this card are the ribbon and paper scraps. Love when I can combine the scraps of other projects to create something new!

Unscripted Sketches :: Sketch 213

Hello all! This week Unscripted Sketches brings us a new sketch to create with! This sketch has endless possibilities - flip or rotate it, create a scrapbook page or a card, go crazy!

As you can see from the card below, I didn't go too crazy. I've had a recent obsession with tabs, leaving me no option but to add one here. 

The stamps used here are from Stamps by Judith. I gushed over this giraffe FOREVER unsure how to use it. Until I notice his cute little hoof would be perfect for a cupcake! I stamped the small cupcake and added a few dots to fill up the white space. 

The tab was created with a Marvy punch. Sometimes I don't want to drag out my sewing machine but want the illusion of stitching. Therefore, I resort to lots of faux stitching with a ZIG Writer.

Interactive Stamps

Thanks for joining me today. I have a card to share with you using Stamps By Judith interactive stamps. You can check out her stamps and ideas here. I love her interactive stamps. Not sure what that word means? The Judith line has a wide variety of stamps that work with each other to create multiple different scenes. Rather than buying one scene stamp that can be used in only that capacity, you purchase individual pieces.

Here are the four interactive stamps I used for today's card:

I have used the second flower top pictured above on top of a square stamp to create a birthday present, and I've filled up that jar with strawberries for a summer themed card. And those are only a few suggestions! Here's what I created with them today:

I stamped the jar in a grey ink. The small space below the jar was masked by placing a piece of scratch paper there while stamping the stems. I stamped the stems and flower tops multiple times to create a fuller bouquet. Tombow markers were used to get the two colors on the red and yellow-orange flower. Lastly, I used the Judith dots stubby to bring the pieces together.

I teach and interactive stamping class using Judith stamps once a month at Creations Galore. It's one of my favorites due to the endless possibilities available. Thanks for stopping by today-Enjoy your day!

Caring Thoughts

Good afternoon! This afternoon I'm bringing you a card that started out as a bit of fun and experimentation. I have a few interactive Judith stamps. The collection includes stamps that can be used in numerous ways and scenes, working well with each other. I usually pass them over wanting to create a card quickly and be done. I find in those moments that I shut down my creativity, focusing on a finished product and forgetting why I actually love paper crafting. Pulling out the stamps, inks, markers, and papers and really thinking through a design energizes me and brings back a passion for the craft. Forgive my crazy ramblings... Sometimes it's just too exciting to get out of a rut and break free of routine. So let's take a look, shall we?

I had to do a bit of masking for the wheelbarrow. After stamping the main image, I began to fill the wheelbarrow with different flowers, leaves, and grass. The image was then colored in with Tombow Markers and Distress Ink was added to the paper edges.

Bunnies and Butterflies

I know it's only February, but I'm ready for spring. Therefore, I'm showing off a cute Easter card I created this weekend. 

 The bunny image by Stamps By Judith is stamped onto white cardstock. I cut a triangle out of one end to create a flag and mirrored that with green striped paper. I adhered the white flag with foam risers and strung sheer green ribbon behind it. 

 

 Next, I punched out a heart from kraft cardstock and stuck it behind the white flag, but not before adding some fun doodling with a black marker. As you can see, the butterflies look as though they're flying off the page. After punching them out of yellow cardstock, I folded them in half. Glossy Accents was added just to the fold to create the dimension and movement.

I dare you not to smile...

Hello blogland! I received some wonderful news this morning... I was selected as a Trigger Target at Moxie Fab World. Woo hoo! I love their challenges. They have a new one up on their blog today, so head over and enter yourself! If you've found yourself on my blog through Moxie Fab, I thank you for stopping by. It's so wonderful to be able to share my love for paper crafting with people all over the world... and to see what you're working on to! 

I must be on a circles kick lately, because here's another card I created with a scattered circle background. I've had this ADORABLE hippo stamp from Stamps By Judith for a bit now... It's a new release stamp. Judith has come up with coordinating stamps, like a gun holster and cowboy hat, but I wanted to stick with just him today. And after seeing this fun BoBunny patterned paper, I had to make it into a birthday card! 

I stamped the hippo onto Copic X-Press It cardstock and colored him in with Copic markers. I didn't want to hide the image; therefore, I stamped the sentiment on vellum with black embossing powder. After studying the card a few minutes, I would love to make another rendition... Maybe with the hippo holding a balloon. I'll work on it and get back to you ;)

A New Love...

...for colored pencils. 

Look at that coloring! hahaha oh my... Let me tell you. I have never EVER colored ANYTHING nicely with colored pencils. It's a medium that I've sworn never to use. Out of no where I decided to give them a try with this adorable image from Stamps By Judith. I was working rather quickly and was AMAZED at how well he came out. Maybe that was the trick: to not over-think! He's probably not the greatest artwork ever created, but for me, it was a personal accomplishment. Of course, he needed to be put on a card:

I never thought I'd set aside my Copics, but I now have this strong urge to keep playing with colored pencils. We'll see how the next few images come out...

A Jar Full Of Love

I love using Judith's Interactive stamps to create scenes. This card is no exception. The jar, candy heart, and cookie heart are three separate stamps. Just think of the endless possibilities for this jar... I'm already envisioning one full of jelly beans!
