La La Love You

Friday, December 27, 2013

While cleaning my craft room, I came across a few scraps from the Finnely Collection by Glitz Design. I couldn't help but turn it into a card!

Love Homemade Card
I distressed and layered a few patterned papers onto A Muse Studio cardstock. The 'la la love you' piece looks like a journaling card, but it's a sticker from the 12x12 sheet. I rounded the corners of the card and arrow sticker to add dimension.

Smile

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Are you as tired as I am? Christmas was filled with lots of food, family, and fun, but boy is it exhausting! What am I doing out of bed?! It's back to work for the rest of the week where I'm trying to complete a wedding album. I can't help but share the following page, which is slapping me in the face as I am on coffee cup number three!

Wedding Scrapbook Layout (via shezigzags.blogspot.com)
These pictures of the bride and groom greeting family and friends after the ceremony are just darling and needed to be included in the album! I chose to keep the page clean and simple, adding the pictures directly to the background page and adding a single piece of patterned paper along the bottom.

WRMK Embossed Stickers
The title was cut from the same white cardstock using the Silhouette Cameo. The weld option on the Silhouette makes it so easy to adhere the word to the page as one complete piece.

WRMK Embossed Stickers
To bring in a little color, I grabbed embossed cardstock stickers from the Chalkboard Collection by We R Memory Keepers. Several pieces from the sticker sheet were layered onto the page with a simple typed word.

Scrapbook Layout
Now, how can you not smile after seeing something like that?! Hope you're having a wonderful, restful day.

Winter Cards with Plum Poppy Studio

Thursday, December 19, 2013

Recently I shared some fall themed cards created with Plum Poppy Studio stamps. I was so excited to get my hands on more of the stamps and quickly went to work creating with the Let It Snow and Ornaments stamp sets.

Snowman Card / Plum Poppy Studio
For the first card, I used the Let It Snow stamp set. I can't get over how adorable this snowman is! He was paper pieced together with matching red and gray cardstock. The 'let it snow' phrase was stamped on the patterned paper before the ribbon and snowman were added.

Snowman Card
The cute tree image on the second time is also from the Let It Snow stamp set. I couldn't help but paper piece it together as well... I'm addicted to fussy cutting! The simple outline of the trees allows for endless creative possibilities - color it in, stamp a design onto it, or fill it up with buttons and bling!

Christmas Card (via shezigzags.blogspot.com)
The tree was adhered to a cut out tag from the BasicGrey 25th & Pine collection. I instantly fell in love with the large sentiments in the Ornaments collection and wanted to use them on this card. Of course, that was after I had layered everything onto the card front. Not quality planning, folks. But that's the fun in creative adventures, right?! I simply inked the oversized sentiment with black ink and stamped it onto the patterned paper and doily. I'm giddy about the result and can't wait to send the card!

It's not too late to get your hands on Plum Poppy Studio stamps... You can even get a heads start on next year's Christmas cards! Check out her online store and blog for high quailty stamp and cutting files, along with lots of inspiring projects.

Project Life Update : Document that Furlough

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

It's time to share another spread of those in between moments in the scrapbook album. This page is from the beginning of October and uses Becky Higgins Project Life Design A Protector.

All photos were taken with my cell phone, along with a screenshot of a news article. The embellishments and most of the cards came from Studio Calico kits

For the start of October, I wanted to include the Government Shutdown. I added the dates to a funny Studio Calico journal card and placed it alongside an article from the first day. I also included my Facebook status from that day. Always thinking about future viewers of the album, I include any major news items and my reaction to them or how it impacted my day to day routine.

On the opposite side of the spread, I included pictures and thoughts from my job. I recently found this quote on Humans of New York, and it fit perfectly with the theme. The ribbon was from the most recent Blue Note Scrapbook Kit. I created a ruffle and sewed a single line through the ribbon, attaching it to the journaling card.

Do you add any world events to your scrapbook albums?

Card Making Monday : Peace on Earth

Monday, December 16, 2013

Happy Monday! I'm back with a new card to share. This week I used a nativity scene stamp from Penny Black Inc. With Christmas only 9 days away, I'm squeezing in as many holiday themed cards as I can!

Distress Inks were used to create the background. I stamped the image once on the background, a second time on white cardstock, and a third time on gold cardstock. Rather than coloring in the image, I chose to fussy cut everything!

Drill #21 : Caroling We Go

Saturday, December 7, 2013

Are you ready for a new drill from SWAT? We're starting December off right. For this challenge, create a layout with a Christmas Carol as a title. You have until December 28th to link up your creations - There's a fun prize up for grabs!

For my layout, I chose an older photo of me hanging out at our family's cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Friends have laughed at my snowman in this picture, but I think it's quite the looker!

BoBunny Snowman Layout (via shezigzags.blogspot.com)
Papers from Bo Bunny's Elf Magic and Woodland Winter collections were used, including these gorgeous snowflake stickers. The title was created with a Silhouette Cameo and cut on white cardstock. I chose to use the negative space and allow the dark blue to show through!

Death By Chocolate

Wednesday, December 4, 2013

While at a scrapbooking retreat a few months ago, I won a Close To My Heart stamp set called Chocolate Affair, and quickly forgot about it. How could I do such a thing?! Upon discovering it in my stash this week, I made up a few cards for friends. Here's one of my favorites with a saying that's oh so true...

Death By Chocolate Card

I stamped the image and sentiment on white cardstock, layering it on top of Glitz patterned papers. A sprinkling of enamel dots and faux stitching finished up the card. So quick, easy, and delicious!

Death By Chocolate Card
From card making to scrapbooking... I have a fun read on the Creations Galore blog today I would love for you to check out. I'm discussing a few steps and techniques to help you tackle all those printed photos and photo files. Card Making Monday

Monday, December 2, 2013

Hello and Happy Monday! It's time to share a few new Make N Takes I've created for Creations Galore this week. If you're local, I'd love for you to stop by and have some fun with us!

Get Well Soon Card
Both cards I'm sharing today are quite simple. For this card, a border was created with a Martha Stewart punch and added to the front. All of the papers came from Bo Bunny's The Avenues collection. The stamp is from Sweet Stamp Shop... Love the whimsical handwriting.

Get Well Soon Card
For the second card, I heat embossed the sentiment from Penny Black onto white cardstock using Ranger Ultra Fine Detail Gold. I kept it simple, adding two coordinating paper strips along the left hand side.

Nothing too fancy today, but these would be quick and easy to create for Christmas gifts. Just package a few together and wrap pretty!

Home Sweet Home

Friday, November 29, 2013

Happy day after Thanksgiving! I hope you were able to enjoy a day of family, friends, and food! I had the blessing of traveling to my parents home for a large, delicious spread with extended family. Now it's back to work in my craft room working on lots of fun projects that I just can't wait to share with you all. First up are two cards I recently created with Avery Elle's Home Sweet Home stamp set.

Avery Elle Home Sweet Home Card
I couldn't resist making my own patterned paper with the four small image stamps included in the set. The background possibilities with the stamps are endless! I stamped the background with Distress Inks pretty quickly; therefore, the individual stamps don't match up perfectly. I'm ok with that! It's simply a sign that it was homemade. The main image was colored with Copic markers and adhered to the card front with foam risers.

Welcome To The Neighborhood Card
I had so much fun coloring in the last image, that I colored the little camper in the set as well. After stamping a few hearts, I added Black Soot Distress Ink to the white edge.

The paper behind the image is from BoBunny's Family Is collection and coordinated perfectly with the card theme.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! What projects are you currently working on?

Good Times

Wednesday, November 27, 2013

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and it's the perfect reminder to appreciate all God has blessed us with. Today, I'm extra thankful for great friends. And that's exactly what the layout is about - Great company, laughter, and friendship.

Friendship Scrapbook Layout
Let me first point out the funny cards on our foreheads. It's the game of Headbandz, and everyone should play!

I tried to keep this layout simple, matting each photo and adding a strip of patterned paper to anchor them to the page. The title was cut from American Crafts Dark Kraft paper, and I added a few strips throughout the layout to tie it in. Of course, I couldn't help but add a little faux stitching with my favorite white gel pen.

Embellishment Cluster
It must be fear of writing directly onto a layout, but I always seem to write my journaling on strips of white paper and then cut them up, spreading them throughout the page. They're perfect subtitles to describe each photo and help me remember names and details far into the future.

What are you thankful for today? May you have a wonderful holiday!

Use It Tuesday : Anything Goes

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

Today at Use It Tuesday, we have a favorite challenge for you: ANYTHING GOES! So dig into your stash of hoarded items, we know you have them, and make something. Anything. Then link up the creation by Friday, December 6th.

For this challenge, I dug out some old papers, embellishments, and STAMPS! Image stamps are not always my go-to supply while scrapbooking, so they often get overlooked.

Shopping Scrapbook Layout
The tag and 'cheesin' phrase were both stamped onto white cardstock and cut out to make a fun embellishment. The stamp set, vintage Market Street Stamps, is a travel-themed set. However, the tag worked perfectly for this shopping layout!

Adding journaling to scrapbook layouts
There's lots of paper distressing and stitching on this layout - both machine and doodled. The title was cut from BasicGrey patterned paper using my Silhouette Cameo. The pattern was a little busy and hard to read, so I added some faux stitching with a black marker.

Lil Swimmer Layout

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Last week I shared a few pages from my 2013 album using pocket protectors to document my summer. It's only appropriate that I share the layout that accompanied them. Here's what the pages look like together inside the album...

Mixing 12x12 layouts and pocket pages
I just love pocket scrapbooking! And here's a close up of the 12x12 traditional layout I created...

Swimming Scrapbook Layout
My nephew is only a few months old, which means I'm documenting EVERYTHING. Everything he does is a fun, new, exciting adventure. I can't help but capture, and document, all of it. That includes the first time I saw him "swimming" in a pool. Can we all just agree that babies in pools are cute?! So cute.

Faux stitching on layouts
I choose papers full of yellow and orange to coordinate with the teal of the photo, but to also create a bright summer layout. The small strip of teal paper was added in to tie the papers and photos together. A few splashes of Mister Huey's mist was added to the stark white background.

Stamping on layouts
All of the other elements were cut with the Silhouette Cameo. The title was the Bebas font, cut from the same patterned paper used behind the photos. Faux stitching was added to break up all of the yellow I gathered together. I couldn't help but stamp a few sayings around the layout with the help of Citrus Twist Kits. Stamping on layouts has become a must for me.

Stamping on layouts
It's only in the 30's here in Wisconsin, so I'm loving the idea of swimming and summer. Hope this layout brings a smile and a little warmth to your corner of the globe!
