Use It Tuesday : Scraps, Pieces, Odds & Ends

Good morning! It's time for another challenge with the Use It Tuesday team! Today we're challenging you to use up all of those scraps you have lying around - papers, ribbons, buttons, and more!

For the challenge, I looked around my scrap table and found plenty of items to pull together a card! Here's what I created...

The main background was a piece I cut too small. I added the black strips to the sides which were pieces that should have made their way to the trash a long time ago! Other paper scraps I found were the polka dotted piece and the pieces for the banner. I simply cut a triangle out of one end of the scrap and adhered them across the card. A black marker was used for the faux stitching and a ribbon scrap helped create a fun bow. 

The only item not hoarded was the new Northwoods stamp. Woo Hoo! Thank you Use It Tuesday for challenging me to use up all those pieces lying around.

Vintage Christmas : New Card!

It's never too early to start working on Christmas cards, and I've got one for you today! 

I instantly fell in love with the Christmas Vintage Labels stamp set from JustRite. The set includes multiple snowflakes, flourishes, sentiments, and labels. The background was created with those snowflakes and two ink colors. Brown Distress Ink was added around the edges to add to the vintage feel.

Drill #17 : Fussy Cutting

Good morning! It's time for another Drill with S.W.A.T! For this challenge, we're asking you to get our your precision scissors and FUSSY CUT. As always, there's a prize up for grabs - Make sure to link up your project on the S.W.A.T blog! 

Let me start by saying I LOOOOOVE to fussy cut! Cutting and coloring are calming to me. Paper piecing, using cut outs, and transforming patterned paper is where. it's. at. 

Therefore, I was super psyched for this challenge. I had recently added a floral patterned paper to my stash and knew it needed to be used! You can see the full 12x12 paper by Echo Park here. I cut out a few of the individual flowers and used them as embellishments. 

Adhesive was added only to the center of the flowers, and I used my finger to bend the leaves upward. Love the texture and dimension this adds, along with the slight distressing of the edges. 

I finished off the layout with washi tape, super fun bling, and sticker letters.

Anna's Back : Title Happy Layouts

Good morning! You may notice the new look to the blog... Hope you enjoy it. It's still very much a work in progress, so you'll also notice a few things that need to still be updated. Until then, how about a new layout?! 

My dearest friend, Anna, moved to a new city this past year breaking up our trio. Luckily, that new city is only about 4 hours away making it easy to spend a weekend visiting her. Recently, she came to visit us, and the moment needed to be documented. For get-to-know-you purposes, in the pictures above, from left to right, it's me, my roomie Rachael, and Anna. 

I cut the letters out of cardstock and patterned paper with the Silhouette Cameo. I love the feature that allows me to cut any font! And of course I added a little faux stitching! 

I wanted the large title to be the main focus, so I tried to keep the embellishments to a minimum. An embellishment triangle was made with stickers and bling.
