Happy Thursday

The sickness to end all sicknesses has kept me in bed the last week. I managed to roll out and head to work this morning, only to have the woooorst series of events unfold. I've now spent the last half hour staring off into space wondering when I'll feel like a normal human being again. Since I have no answer to that sad question, I've dusted off the computer and pledge to bring you a few cards from last week. I'm hoping paper crafting is the cure-all. A girl can dream, right?!

This first card started with the Building Cards Silhouette cut. I knew I wanted a fun pattern behind the negative space and wanted the card to be clean and simple. The entire thing came together in no time at all! I may need to repurpose more of my project life cards this way!

This card was made with lots of punches! Punches are the most neglected tool in my craft room, so I tried to make the most of them here.

On Trend :: Triangles

The Practical Scrappers' On Trend Team is exploring one of the hottest new trends showing up on scrapbook pages everywhere. To show the trend isn't just a part of scrapbooking, I created this card for the post. But silly, silly me forgot to upload the picture to the PS blog post in time. Make sure you head over to the PS blog to see the wonderful projects from the rest of the On Trend Team. They rocked this new trend.

I started with a piece of acetate cut to 5.5" x 8.5"and folded it in half. Next, I added a base to adhere all of my elements to the front and created a second piece for the inside, giving me something to write a special note on. To create the triangles, I cut 3.5" squares in half and layered them onto the card base. A simple sentiment was added, and it's ready to be mailed off!

Bunnies and Butterflies

I know it's only February, but I'm ready for spring. Therefore, I'm showing off a cute Easter card I created this weekend. 

 The bunny image by Stamps By Judith is stamped onto white cardstock. I cut a triangle out of one end to create a flag and mirrored that with green striped paper. I adhered the white flag with foam risers and strung sheer green ribbon behind it. 

 

 Next, I punched out a heart from kraft cardstock and stuck it behind the white flag, but not before adding some fun doodling with a black marker. As you can see, the butterflies look as though they're flying off the page. After punching them out of yellow cardstock, I folded them in half. Glossy Accents was added just to the fold to create the dimension and movement.

Hello :: Retro Sketch Challenge

Why hello! I found myself on the Retro Sketches Challenge blog today and fell in love with this week's card sketch. Take a look:

So fun! The first creation I made with this sketch is the card below. As you can see, I didn't center the elements as shown in the sketch and added a few more layers. 

I've had this dimensional flower punch from EK Success for MONTHS and have been intimidated by it. So I got past the fear and gave it a try today. The result was amazing! I just love the look.
