Card Making Monday

Good morning! Stopping by today to share a few Make N Takes I designed for Creations Galore recently. First up is this adorable stamped image from Stampendous...

The image was colored with Copic markers and adhered to patterned papers. The entire piece was attached to the card base with foam risers for added dimension. A simple but fun card!

Next up is a card using bottle cap stamps from Inkadinkado. I've had this stamp, Positive Pop Mini, on my desk forever, just staring me in the face, unsure how I would ever add it to a card. Out of nowhere, this design came to me. Some of my favorite projects have resulted from pushing myself to use a new product or technique! 

The bottle caps were stamped on white cardstock. I used a variety of circle punches to cut out the images, patterned paper, and kraft cardstock. Love the layers! Just a few doodles on the rectangle pieces completed the card.

Drill #13 :: Trendy Triangles

It's time for a new S.W.A.T challenge using one of the hottest trends in the paper crafting world. For Drill #13 we challenge you to use these trendy triangles on your projects! For my creation, I used large triangles to create movement and define my focal point.

My white background sure is blending in with the blog background, I apologize. To create the triangles, I cut 3.5 x 3.5 inch squares and cut them in half, layering each half on opposite sides of the background paper. I originally intended to have the triangles all pointing the same direction to put emphasis on the step-by-step process of the photos. However, I loved how the photos became an extreme focal point when the arrows were pointed toward the center. 

These photos were from a recent weekend at our family cabin. My brother had sat down on his 3-wheeler with his son, Hunter. Hunter loves behind held like a football (as shown in the second picture) and always needs to be moving. With just a single, short lap around the cabin on the 3-wheeler, the little guy was out cold. His first ride with his daddy just needed to be documented. 

I chose to keep the layout simple - just a bit of patterned paper, sticker letters, and handwritten journaling.

Practical Scrappers August Card Sketch :: Plus Watercolor Tutorial

Good morning! Practical Scrappers is welcoming August with a brand new card sketch. We'd love for you join us... Post your own creation on our Facebook page. I can't wait to see what you create!

Here's the card I created:

I created a faux polaroid frame by cutting a square of light green paper smaller than a black rectangle. The flower image was stamped with black embossing powder, while gold was used for the sentiment. The first part of the sentiment took the place of three pieces of bling... I loved that it was smaller than the hello! 

The green and purple papers used for the square and banner came from the Chalkboard collection by We R Memory Keepers and had an ombre watercolor look to them. To incorporate that theme to other elements of the card, I used this amazing video tutorial from Kristina Werner.

I used Tattered Rose, Dusty Concord, and Old Paper Distress Inks for the background. It was extremely easy and FAST! I created a few additional backgrounds (it was just too fun), but no two were the same! You just have to watch the video above and give it a try for yourself!

I used a few of the droplets of ink left on my craft mat, along with a paint brush, to add a small amount of color to the embossed flowers. It has a subtle color that really highlights the image.

I Was Here

Hello! Just stopping by today with a quick layout documenting the many unique places I stood during a trip to our cabin for Memorial Day Weekend. I'm not one to usually take feet pictures, but I enjoyed the idea of displaying all the different textures and colors of the weekend. 

I simply cropped my photos into smaller squares to fit on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of patterned paper. A little washi tape, alpha stickers, and journaling made up the rest. And of course, I had to add a puffy geotag sticker from Skipping5.
