Sketch It Saturday: Blessing Others Through Art

Saturday, September 15, 2012

Good morning followers! It's Sketch It Saturdays with Unscripted Sketches, and do we ever have a fun challenge for you this week! First, let's take a look at the newest sketch:

Here it is! Flip it, reverse it... create a card or scrapbook page... Let your creativity shine using the above sketch as inspiration. Head over to Unscripted Sketches to link up your project for a chance to be featured next week. Here's the card I created:

Don't neglect the inside:

In addition to using the sketch, this week we're encouraging you to USE the card you make. Send it to a friend for their birthday, cheer up a co-worker, say thanks to a neighbor for letting you borrow their hedge trimmer for 8 years, or... send it to one of the many organizations out there spreading cheer through cards. Let's face it: I have TONS of cards sitting around. I submit cards for challenges, create make n takes, attend workshops, or make them for fun. But when do I ever USE them?!

Unscripted Sketches has put together a few places for you to send your cards. I'm sending the card I created today to Card Cupids, an organization that sends cards to children facing difficult challenges in their young lives regardless of their economic background. They believe every child needs to know they are loved, sending positive messages to help lift their spirits. In addition to handmade cards, Card Cupids and their numerous volunteers send stuffed animals, books, toys, and clothing to children in hospitals, foster care, and homeless shelters. This is a wonderful way to make a lasting impact on a child's life when they need it most. You can head over to the Card Cupids website to view their card guidelines and read more about their organization.

In addition to Card Cupids, here are a few other organizations using homemade cards:

I hope you'll consider being a blessing to those around you. Use your talent to bring a smile to someone today!
