Unscripted Sketches :: Flashback Sketch #69

Thanks for stopping by this morning! We've got another Flashback Sketch from Unscripted Sketches! This summer, the design team has been going back in time, picking randomly selected sketches to use in a new and creative way! This Saturday, sketch #69 is the inspiration! 

I flipped the sketch upside down and mixed up a few of the elements. 

For this card, I was determined to use nothing but a 6x6 paper pad from Crate paper. Therefore, I made the base smaller than my average cards, creating a folded card of 3x5 inches. It's the perfect size to include in a baby shower gift! The bunny was stamped on the same cardstock as the card base and then again on patterned paper to piece together the pink elements. The white banner for the sentiment was the back side of a scrap of patterned paper from the pack.

Sketch It Saturday :: Flashback Summer

Good morning! This summer at Unscripted Sketches is a fun one! We're taking a look at previous sketches and bringing new life to them. There's lots of inspiration, fun, and prizes! 

I'm joining in for Sketch #56 a little late, but I couldn't resist giving this one a try!

For this card, I first laid down several layers of baby boy themed papers to coordinate with this precious bear stamp from Peachy Keen Stamps. The image was colored with Copic markers and adhered to the card front with foam risers for added dimension.

Unscripted Sketches #219 :: First Home

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I'm sharing a new sketch from Unscripted Sketches with you today! 

This week, I rotated the sketch and placed the half circle (doily) on top of the rectangle (vellum). I added a few more rectangles and these cute stamps, embossed in black and colored with Tombow Markers.

Unscripted Sketches :: Sketch 213

Hello all! This week Unscripted Sketches brings us a new sketch to create with! This sketch has endless possibilities - flip or rotate it, create a scrapbook page or a card, go crazy!

As you can see from the card below, I didn't go too crazy. I've had a recent obsession with tabs, leaving me no option but to add one here. 

The stamps used here are from Stamps by Judith. I gushed over this giraffe FOREVER unsure how to use it. Until I notice his cute little hoof would be perfect for a cupcake! I stamped the small cupcake and added a few dots to fill up the white space. 

The tab was created with a Marvy punch. Sometimes I don't want to drag out my sewing machine but want the illusion of stitching. Therefore, I resort to lots of faux stitching with a ZIG Writer.

Sketch It Saturday :: Ice Cream Love

Welcome to Sketch It Saturdays with Unscripted Sketches. Unscripted Sketches posts a new sketch each week for you to flip, rotate, or use as is. Make a card, scrapbook page, or other item. There's no right or wrong way, as long as you use the Unscripted Sketch as the inspiration and basis of your creation. Let's take a look a this week's sketch...

I rotated the sketch and made it all my own, creating the card below. 

I pieced together two fun patterns from Pink Paislee and used a Spellbinders die to create the shape shown. The images are from a Cosmo Cricket rubber cling set. The ice cream image was stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Tombow markers and a waterbrush. His arms and legs were first stamped onto the kraft oval before adhering the watercolor piece. Because I flipped the sketch, I felt the card design was not balanced. The kraft banner was added to fix this. After a little faux stitching with a black pen and the addition of the raised speech bubble, I have an adorable card to send off!

How many squares can you layer on a card?

Good morning and thanks for stopping by. I'm sharing the newest sketch from Unscripted Sketches! Have you played along yet?

At first glance, this sketch looks a little busy. Many of my fellow design team members turned this sketch into a scrapbook page. And it worked! They rocked their pages. When you study the sketch, you'll see there is a main focal point, four squares in each corner, and two rectangles on each side. To keep my card from being too overwhelmed, I got rid of one of the rectangles on each side and created this:

I used Marvy nesting punches to create the rectangles, squares, and circle. Next, I add some doodles to the pieces, embossed a sentiment, and adhered it together. It ended up being the easiest card I created this week!

Hello blogland! Today I'm sharing the newest sketch from Unscripted Sketches. We can't wait to see what you create with the sketch. But first, here's some inspiration to get your creativity jump started.

For this card, I used only two of the three blocks shown in the sketch. But I did add a large block of patterned paper down the left side to mimic the balance and weight of the three. Rather than a sentiment along the right side, I added two buttons to balance out the strips I did add.

A few stamps from the new A Muse Studio catalog were PERFECT for the sketch elements. I added a few layers to accommodate the smaller images. Here's my take on the sketch:

I decided to keep true to this week's sketch, using patterned papers and coordinating colored cardstock to fill in the various blocks of the sketch. In replace of one of the blocks, I added a sentiment on white  cardstock, and raised it with foam risers.

Sketch Saturday

Hello! It's a sketch-filled morning with SWAT and Unscripted Sketches. First up is the new challenge blog SWAT. Every first and third Saturday, SWAT posts a new scrappy challenge for you to take part in with great prize packages up for grabs! Take a look at this great sketch by Jenessa Franco.

I had so much fun with this sketch! As soon as I saw the embellishment triangle, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. Here's my take on the sketch:

I was raised in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. I've seen all kinds of wildlife, heard the wolves howl, enjoyed peaceful summer nights and full moons, and seen the wonder of snow-lightening. But when it came to fireflies, I had yet to see one, let alone capture it in a jar like I had seen in movies. Ironically, I headed off to the "big city," and my first night in New York included a meeting with fireflies. Every night on the way home, I'd walk past a large patch of greenery with swarms of beautiful fireflies lighting up the pathway. Sadly, this magical place seemed to be a nest for rats too! I encountered my fair share of those. But the childlike excitement these tiny bugs created in me surpassed those furry creatures.

I haven't decided if I'm going to write my journaling onto the polka dotted paper or tuck it into a pocket in the same place. Creating the perfect layout is always a creative journey.

I cut the fireflies from the Cricut cartridge, Stretch Your Imagination, and doodled little hearts on them. All of the cardstock and patterned papers come from the new collection, Simply Spring, from We R Memory Keepers. I loved the light colors in the collection.

These great letters and embossed stickers are from Simply Spring as well. I added the embellishments and used a Copic Multiliner to outline and bring emphasis to the layers.

There are endless possibilities with the sketch; however, I chose to keep it clean and simple. Here's my take on the sketch: 

I love these stamps from A Muse Studio... I've had them in my stash for far too long! Wanting to keep a masculine theme, I chose brown and green for the card base. 

Rather than have the image on the square in the sketch, I broke up the kraft stripe, cut out the image from white cardstock, and adhered it to the card front with foam risers.

I've had this map paper from Pink Paislee for a while now, just sitting there. Paper hoarder alert! Looking to create something with it, I decided to base the card around the paper! After gathering a few coordinating elements, I went to work putting it all together! 

I wanted to use three pearls for the square elements of the sketch, as well as do something creative in each card corner. Thinking more pearls would be too much, I opted for white photo corners. Vintage meets whimsical... It really frames the map and adds something to the card.

I left the large circle in the same position, but changed the card to a landscape design. The design was also changed by moving the two smaller circles and adding a heart and sentiment. But that's the great part about a sketch - It's just a starting point for creativity!

Sketch 195 :: Card Making with Stickers

Welcome to Sketch it Saturdays with Unscripted Sketches! As you can see, I'm running a bit behind on my post... so sorry! If you've never heard of Unscripted Sketches, every Saturday morning we post a sketch for the week. Flip the sketch, rotate it… create a card, a scrapbook page, or anything your imagination comes up with! There is no right or wrong way, as long as you are using the Unscripted Sketch as the inspiration and basis of your creation!

 

This week, we not only have a great sketch for you, but it's time for our monthly PIGGYBACK CHALLENGE! During the piggyback week, we add an additional, optional challenge. This week's challenge element is to use STICKERS! 

 

For my card this week, I started with a great sticker from Penny Black Inc. Penny Black has a great collection of clear and wood mounted stamps. In addition, they carry sticker sets that can easily be turned into beautiful cards. I punched three circles from black cardstock and used them as the bottom element of the sketch. Because the stickers was larger than the sketch called for, I didn't add the second rectangle, and opted for a small sentiment to the left of the image. 

Make sure to check out the rest of the designers' creations this week... They've all used stickers in unique ways. Now pull out your stickers, old and new... I can't wait to see what you create with them!

Sketch It Saturday :: Superstar

Good morning! I'm here today with a new sketch from Unscripted Sketches, and I'm positive you're going to love this one! 

I was so excited for this sketch. There's so many possibilities. Here's the card I created:

The arrow is stamped with black StazOn ink on a patterned vellum and cut to size. To balance out the arrow and star, I added an additional stripe along the bottom of the card. Looking forward to sending this card to a superstar in my life.

Sketch It Saturday :: Light Up My Life

Good morning, and thank you for joining me today as I bring you a new sketch from Unscripted Sketches! Our Design Team ROCKED. IT. this week with their gorgeous creations. You must head over to the blog after you check out my card to see all their projects!

Remember, this sketch is just a starting point. We can't wait to visit your blog or photo gallery and see what you've created using it as your inspiration. Here's what I've created this week:

Rather than a stripe of paper across the middle of the card, I added some washi tape from A Muse Studio's new Valentine's catalog. The scalloped circle was punched from grey patterned paper and layered with the punched white circle. I stamped the light bulb onto the circle and paper pieced the pink heart as an accent. I've been going CRAZY over this new baker's cording. Yes... baker's cording. It's exactly like baker's twine; however, it's thicker and more heavy duty. I've noticed bows hold better shape with the cording and packages look fabulous wrapped with it! A Muse Studio has released it in two colors... Check it out here.
