Scrapping Your Stash Blog Hop

Friday, February 14, 2014

Happy Valentine's Day, and welcome to another stop on the Practical Scrappers Blog Hop! You should have found your way here from Cathy's blog. You won't want to miss any stops along the way, so head to the Practical Scrappers Blog to start from the beginning.

Practical Scrappers host a monthly blog hop where we SCRAP OUR STASH, and this month we're focusing on our Valentine's stash. We have a great sponsor this month too - Kiwi Lane Designs!

Kiwi Lane Designs creates templates that help take the frustration out of scrapbooking. One lucky winner today will get a border set and an accessory set from Kiwi Lane. Details on how you can win this prize are at the bottom of this post. First, let's get to my project for the hop!

Valentine's Day Tag Card
I had a few paper and ribbon scraps lying around that I pulled together to create this 5x7 card. The tag has been in my stash for a while... Can we say hoarding?! It's from We R Memory Keepers' Chalkboard collection, and it's one of my favorites. I just didn't want to use it... Until now!

Card Using WRMK Die Cut Tag
Now, how to get in on that prize! You can do any or all of the following for up to three entries.
2. Become a fan of the Practical Scrappers Facebook page
3. Become a fan of the Kiwi Lane Facebook page, and make sure to tell them we sent you!

Make sure to leave a comment on the Practical Scrappers blog to let us know what you did. The contest will close at 11:59 PM CST on Sunday, February 16. Good luck, and have fun!

Now it's time to head over to Lanette's blog where she's got another FANTASTIC project for you!

Card Making Monday

Monday, February 3, 2014

Hello, and Happy Monday! It's time to show off a few cards I created this morning for Creations Galore. If you're local, I'd love for you to stop in and create one of these lovely Valentine's as a fun Make N Take this week.

For the first card, I started with a cupid stamp from Art Impressions. I couldn't resist that cute image paired with the 'love is in the air' sentiment. He was colored with Copic markers and added to layers of Echo Park's Head Over Heels collection.

The second card was an easy one to whip up. I combined the bicycle Echo Park paper with the matching sentiment from Sweet Stamp Shop. I can't wait to create a few more to mail out to loved ones!

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you had an amazing weekend. Are you creating any Valentine themed cards?

On Trend :: Valentine's

Monday, February 4, 2013

Good morning! It's another On Trend Monday with Practical Scrappers! Today our team is offering up a good dose of Valentines inspiration in the form of cards and layouts! I decided to go with untraditional colors, setting aside the pinks and reds and opting for deep purple and chartreuse.

After adhering the papers to the card front, I added some washi tape, corrugated paper, and half a doily. I love the variety of texture in the layers. Rather than coloring in the cute heart, I paper pieced kraft cardstock to coordinate with the rest of the card. Why do anything the easy way?!

Please stop by the Practical Scrappers blog to check out more Valentine's inspiration... You're going to be blown away with the talent on this On Trend Team!

Challenge Time :: Valentine Treats

Monday, January 28, 2013

This is my second post for today. If you've found your way here from the Practical Scrappers blog, please scroll down to view my post on wood veneers. Thanks for visiting!

Today marks a new challenge at the A Muse Studio Challenge Blog. Are you ready?! Tobey Shepherd is our host the next two weeks and has a great prize for a lucky winner. I do hope you'll play along with us. Tobey challenged us to create a Valentine-themed gift or treat for someone special. I've been working on full sized Valentines to send out to friends; therefore, I created a card with A Muse Studio products.

I'm still crazy in love with the doilies A Muse Studio released in their Valentine Catalog & Inspiration Guide. Haven't seen it yet? Download it here. After adhering the doily to the card front, I added some faux stitching. Next, I layered on a kraft circle, a few paper flags, and some bling. How cute is this little speech bubble?! I stamped it onto white cardstock and a second time onto kraft cardstock. I then cut out the heart and adhered it to the white image. I must say, I'd love to receive this fun valentine... I can't wait to send it off to someone dear to me!

Sketch It Saturday :: Hugs & Kisses

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Hello folks! It's another Sketch It Saturday with Unscripted Sketches, and they've got a great sketch for you to try out this week!

And here's my take on the sketch:

I left the large circle in the same position, but changed the card to a landscape design. The design was also changed by moving the two smaller circles and adding a heart and sentiment. But that's the great part about a sketch - It's just a starting point for creativity!

We'd love to see what you create with the sketch. Link up your project at Unscripted Sketches for a little blog love!

DIY Valentines

Monday, January 14, 2013

This is my second post today. If you've traveled here from the Practical Scrappers blog, please scroll down to see today's snow themed layout!

It's a new year and time for new challenges at the A Muse Studio Challenge Blog! Woo Hoo! Tracey is hosting the first challenge, and it's to celebrate your new goodies. Show your love for something new to you by combining it with one of your favorites. Whether your paper crafting favorite is a color, tool, or technique, use it to showcase one of those new, never been used items we all have.

Link up your project to the A Muse Studio Challenge blog by January 26th for your chance to win some great A Muse Studio products. You can find out more here.

When I heard Tracey's challenge to use our new items, I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I picked up some A Muse Studio glassine envelopes a few months ago and hadn't taken them out of the package. With February 14th quickly approaching, today was just the right day to use those envelopes to make some pretty valentines!

My favorite paper crafting technique is paper piecing. I'm a sucker for detail cutting! I started out with a doily and some washi tape from the new Valentine catalog. Next, I stamped the heart, from the Sending My Love set, onto kraft cardstock and patterned paper. After cutting them out, I adhered them to the front of the envelope and added pearls. In the open space on the left hand side, I added the names of the recipients in permanent, acid free marker.

To coordinate with the CA-UTE envelopes, I created these Valentine cards:

I started out with the card base, adding faux stitching with the same permanent marker. After cutting a layer of kraft paper, I added pieces of washi tape and rounded the corners. Of course I had to add the piece of doily I trimmed off the envelopes to the card front. This I Heart You stamp is also from the Sending My Love stamp set. I first stamped it onto white cardstock and then again on patterned paper. I cut out the patterned paper heart and adhered it to the white piece.

Creating the set of cards and envelopes was fast and easy. You could create a set to give away as a gift or give away individually to those you love. Who says Valentine's Day has to be for couples?! I'm going back to the days of grade school and handing out valentines to all my friends.

I Heart You

Friday, January 4, 2013

Before we dive into today's card, Jess picked a winner of the large KinderStampO prize package from our Holiday Cheer Blog Hop. Visit the blog to find out if you're the lucky recipient!

Now... I know it's way toooooo early for Valentine's and hearts and red roses, but I couldn't resist! A Muse Studio has released their newest catalog full of lovey dovey goodness. I ordered lots and squealed in excitement when it arrived! With the supplies, I made quite a few different cards and layouts, but this is one of my favorites:

I started out with a piece of kraft paper and added some faux stitching. I then stamped three large hearts and the 'I heart you' sentiment onto the kraft paper. I re-inked them and stamped again onto patterned paper from American Crafts. After cutting out the patterned hearts, I adhered them to the kraft paper. The final product seemed a little plain, so I added the white cardstock piece with an additional sentiment and adhered it all to some pink cardstock. I'm thinking of changing the valentine's day phrase to say something different and framing it. It would be a perfect little gift.

Love Every Inch

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Hello friends. With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, I've been in a lovey, dovey, sentimental mood. Here's a fun card I created that fits right into that category, minus the red, pink, and hearts. Hope you enjoy!

A Jar Full Of Love

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Today I'm playing along with CPS (Card Positioning Systems) and their 5th Anniversary Sketch Challenges. The inspiration for the card came from their Day 4 Sketch:

CPS is hosting 15 challenges with lots of prizes. Make sure to head over and enter a few yourself! And here's my card:

I love using Judith's Interactive stamps to create scenes. This card is no exception. The jar, candy heart, and cookie heart are three separate stamps. Just think of the endless possibilities for this jar... I'm already envisioning one full of jelly beans!

Thanks for stopping by... Are you handing out Valentines?

Won't You Be Mine

Monday, January 30, 2012

Hop on over to Creation Galore's blog today to see a Mini Album I created for an upcoming class. If you're in the Green Bay area, I'd love for you to join me in creating your own. You can reserve a spot here... and to view a schedule of all upcoming classes, wonder on over here.

The album is made out of 5 ordinary brown paper bags, Reminisce's Be Mine Collection, and the most adorable e-session from Megs Colleen. I printed these photos off of a laser printer to further take on the 'ordinary to extraordinary' challenge. When photographing the album, the scan lines from the printer were hard to eliminate. Therefore, they truly don't give accurate credit to how talented Megs is. I highly recommend stopping by her blog or Facebook page and checking out her photography.

Happy Monday friends! What projects did you work on this weekend?
