Project Life Update: Week 5

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

Hello there. It's time to share another spread from my 2014 Project Life album. I'm currently all caught up, and it feels so good. Today I'm sharing just week five. Looking through the album, I couldn't be more proud, happy, and blessed to have all these moments documented. This project is teaching me that those small moments are important too.

The spread includes: 6 cell phone pictures, 6 camera pictures, and 1 movie poster. Half of the photos were printed at home using my HP printer on glossy paper. The other half were printed at Walgreens after I had run out of ink.

What happened this week: Helped my brother move, 4 segments on a local news station, birthday party for the cutest 5 year old around, the Super Bowl, shopping, and family time.

Last year I didn't use the famous weekly structure of Project Life and added photos as I wanted. This year, I've really enjoyed creating a weekly marker. If you are a Project Lifer that adds weekly markers to your own album, you'll notice that my week 5 is probably much different than yours. I'm so OCD when it comes to dates and didn't want to include parts of December 2013 in my 2014 album. Therefore, my first week started out with January 1st, making a new spread starting every Wednesday after that. If that seems small and insignificant to you, no worries. I'll be the first to admit I'm weird. But this project really can be customized in so many ways in order to fit your life and quirks.

Project Life Title Card

These overlays from Chic Tags are my favorite. I've been hoarding a few of them wanting to use the transparencies over a photo, but I gave in using it over a patterned journaling card from We R Memory Keepers' Chalkboard Collection. I used the tiny attacher to keep the overlay in place.

I used another clear Flip Flap from Close To My Heart to add a few extra photos to this week's spread. A torn piece of washi tape was added for decoration, as well as to cover up the small line of adhesive on the pocket.

This week included quite the variety of weird, crazy, and just plain ridiculous photos. I couldn't have been more excited to find this pink journaling card in my Studio Calico Project Life kit. I'm almost (aaaaalmost) embarrassed to share the photo below of my cousin John and I acting our normal stupid selves, trying to look as ugly as possible for the camera. But this is us. This is my family. These are the moments I can't stop laughing about. And I WILL delight in it. Studio Calico gave me permission to.

Ok, this cute little man isn't crazy, just ridiculously cute.

Project Life with Practical Scrappers

Friday, September 6, 2013

Good afternoon! So glad you joined me today for another Project Life Feature with Practical Scrappers! Yesterday I shared an introductory post to today's layout. This spread documents a recent ATV trip with my extended family. Our cabin in the Northwoods of Wisconsin brings the whole family together.

I'm using pocket protectors from American Crafts and Albums Made Easy Kits from We R Memory Keepers. All of the photos were taken with my camera (no cell phone pictures!).

Love the above photo. It's my dad and his brothers. They like to cut him in half in photos and joke about the pun. Unfortunately, I had a few problems printing off these photos and it looks more like his 1/3 of a brother. Ha! But I just had to document the event!

The Silhouette Cameo was used in a few spots, such as the 'let's go' cut above. I backed it with faux woodgrain paper to help it standout. The 'trail riding' title was then cut from the same paper.

I used a lot of stitching on this layout, securing sticker letters and adding a border to photos. I really love the extra texture it gave the project. My typewriter also got lots of use on this layout. I typed directly onto the 3x4 card - My Project Life cards from Studio Calico are a little too thick to fit nicely in my typewriter; however, the WRMK cards are thin and perfect! Additionally, I typed some journaling on to white cardstock, cut it into strips, and adhered it to a 4x6 card.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to head to the Practical Scrappers blog to see more Project Life inspired posts.

Add chipboard embellishments to Project Life cards

Hello fellow paper crafters! I'm so glad you're joining me today! You can find the spread below featured on the Practical Scrappers blog, along with lots of Project Life inspiration.

With this spread, I tried to stick to red, yellow, orange, and kraft colors. Having a single color combo for the two page spread helps unify the individual events in each pocket.

All the photos from this spread were taken with my cell phone. I also included one screenshot of Facebook status. I used the Midnight Core Kit, the Jade Core Kit, and the Studio Calico Project Life Monthly Kit. All of the journaling was written by hand.

One of my favorite parts of this spread is the cork letters from the Roundabout kit. I used them around the layout as titles and added smaller embellishments and washi tape.
